When Pillar Roofing is called to stop a commercial roof leak, our responsibility does not end when the invoice is paid. Once we identify the source and complete the repair, our workmanship on that area is covered for two full years. If the repair itself fails during that period, contact us and we will treat it as a priority—returning promptly to inspect the problem and make it right under the terms of the written warranty.

That two-year term is deliberate and appropriate for commercial repair work. Many commercial roofs are already well into their service life and have endured years of Texas heat, hail, wind, standing water, aging materials, and layers of previous repairs. No contractor can responsibly guarantee an entire aging roof based on one localized repair. Our warranty covers the work we performed—not unrelated failures elsewhere—while giving the property owner two full years of written accountability for the repair entrusted to Pillar Roofing.

Tar & Gravel Roofs—also known as Built-Up Roofing systems—are constructed with multiple layers of reinforced roofing felt and asphalt, followed by a flood coat that holds the protective gravel in place.

After decades of sun and weather exposure, the asphalt has naturally oxidized, and the dried surface loses its ability to seal small openings. Years of rooftop activity can scatter or remove much of the pea gravel that once protected the surface from direct sunlight.

As bare areas develop, the exposed flood coat can crack and “alligator,” leaving the underlying roof membrane increasingly vulnerable to water intrusion.

Repairing a Tar & Gravel Roof requires a methodical approach because the aggregate conceals the membrane, making the actual entry point difficult to locate.

Once the leak is isolated, the gravel must be removed from the repair area. We clean, dry, and evaluate the leak area down to sound material.

A reinforced modified-bitumen repair sheet into the existing membrane—often using a torch-applied sheet when the roof assembly and jobsite conditions permit.

The repaired area is resurfaced with compatible asphalt and fresh gravel to protect it from ultraviolet exposure and physical wear.

PVC roofing is a reinforced, single-ply membrane made from polyvinyl chloride—a durable thermoplastic material commonly called vinyl.

Its seams are fused together with hot air, creating a continuous waterproof surface instead of relying on tapes or roof cement.

Restaurants and food-service buildings use PVC because the membrane surface resists grease, animal fats, and many chemicals found around kitchen exhaust equipment.

Repairing PVC requires locating the leak, evaluating its extent, isolating the damaged section, and thoroughly cleaning and preparing the membrane.

Technicians typically repair punctures, failed seams, and damaged flashing with a compatible PVC patch, hot-air welded around its perimeter and then inspected to confirm a watertight bond.

Older PVC may be weathered or contaminated by grease and dirt, making preparation especially important. The new patch fuses to the existing roof membrane, creating a durable repair rather than a temporary surface coating.
